Rascal Flatts Perform To 65,000 Fans During Weekend Shows

July 25, 2011

Over 65,000 fans attended shows this weekend to see Rascal Flatts including 2 sold-out Flatts Fest dates in Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.

Prior to the Flatts Fest show in Indianapolis at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater on Saturday, Rascal Flatts- Gary, Jay and Joe Don- stunned fans when they made an unannounced visit to the “Why Wait” wedding chapel and Flatts Fest Karaoke Challenge during a pre-show walk through the festival grounds.

The band surprised the wedding couple, Anthony Payne and Stephani Giveans, who renewed their vows at the “Why Wait” wedding chapel (sponsored by David’s Bridal), and stood by as witnesses to the ceremony. The wedding was officiated by WFMS radio dj Jim Denny, along with Deb Honeycutt as bridesmaid and Kevin Freeman as the ring bearer, who are also a part of the station’s morning show.

Gary, Jay and Joe Don then jetted onto the stage of the “Flatts Fest” Karaoke Challenge while contestant Jessi Bennett was performing, who won the chance to perform through a pre-show contest hosted by local radio station WLHK. After a short moment to pull herself together, she finished singing while the guys stood by to cheer her on. Her performance was followed by the band doing a shortened karaoke version of their hit “Bless The Broken Road,” which began with a slightly revised singing performance by Jay, ever the comedian.

Fans can catch all this excitement as crews from GAC’s Headline Country and CMT’s Insider were on hand. The shows will air Thursday, July 28 and Saturday, July 30 respectively. Today, Storme Warren hosts his 4-hour afternoon drive show on The Highway on SiriusXM 4:00-8:00pm EST from Flatts Fest.

Fans can also catch the excitement when the tour makes a stop in their town. You never know where Rascal Flatts may show up.
